Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), attended the opening ceremony, high level meeting and thematic session on People-to-People Connectivity of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing International Convention Center on May 14th. After meeting, President Li arrived at the Great Hall of the People to attend the welcome banquet and then watched the performance named Millennial Road held in National Center for the Performing Arts. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. It was reported that 29 heads of state and government leaders, heads of international organization, and around 1500 distinguished guests from various circles representing over 130 countries, attended the forum.

On May 12th, President Li Xiaolin of CPAFFC and other Chinese friendly-to-Vietnam representatives paid a courtesy call to President Tran Dai Quang of Vietnam who was on a state visit to China in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. On behalf of the Communist Party, the country and the people of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang firstly expressed his gratitude to President Li and other Chinese friendly personnel for their great efforts in carrying forward the Vietnam-China traditional friendship. President Tran said that Vietnam and China were linked by mountains and waters, and the geographic position and common aspiration made the two countries closely connected. In the recent years, the bilateral relations developed in a healthy way which was conducive to the two countries and peoples as well as to the peace and stability of the region and world. Tran hoped that the Chinese representatives will make continuous efforts to contribute more to the further development of the bilateral relations. On behalf of CPAFFC and China-Vietnam Friendship Association (CVFA), President Li welcomed Tran Dai Quang’s visit to China and thanked him to spare time among busy schedule for the meeting. She said that China and Vietnam are neighboring countries connected by mountains and rivers and we attached great importance to the traditional friendship established and cultivated by the older generations of the two countries. As the younger generation, we had the responsibility to inherit and carry forward the traditional friendship. President Li introduced the people-to-people friendship work with Vietnam conducted by CPAFFC in the recent years and expressed willingness to continuously cooperate with Vietnam side to enhance the people-to-people friendship and promote the healthy development of bilateral relations. President Wang Jinshan of CVFA, Vice President Lin Yi of CPAFFC and representatives of veterans or their relatives who once engaged in the wars against French invaders or American invaders to assist the Vietnam from China attended the meeting. Mme. Truong Thi Mai, Member of the Political Bureau of Communist Party of Vietnam(CPV) and Minister of Mass Movement of CPV Central Committee, Mr. Uong Chu Luu, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Mr. Dao Viet Trung, Head of the Office of President of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Chairman of Vietnam-China Friendship Association and President of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Administration were also present at the meeting.

On May 9, 2017, President Li, on a visit to Cambodia met with Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of Cambodia at Royal Palace. President Li first thanked Norodom Monineath Sihanouk for her warm welcome to the delegation of CPAFFC and introduced the efforts made us in promoting cooperation at nongovernmental and local government between China and Cambodia. She said that China-Cambodia friendship becomes even firmer and thrives as time goes by as it was personally initiated and meticulously fostered by the older generations of Chinese leaders and King Father Norodom Sihanouk. President Li also sang the song which she is familiar with from her childhood. It is wrote by King Father Norodom Sihanouk, which praises the friendship between our two countries: we are like a family, intimate as we always be, and our future is full of light. She pointed out that President Xi Jinping and King Norodom Sihamoni exchanged visits last year, which is of landmark significance to push forward the development of bilateral relations. The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will be held in Beijing this week, which Prime Minister Hun Sen will be present. President Li appreciated King Norodom Sihamoni, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and Cambodian government's support of the "Belt and Road" initiative. and CPAFFC will as always support result-oriented cooperation between China and Cambodia at nongovernmental and local government level under the "Belt and Road" framework. Norodom Monineath extended a warm welcome to President Li on behalf of King Norodom Sihamoni. She said that as the most intimate friends, Cambodia and China enjoy a long-term friendship and smooth development of mutually beneficial cooperation. She thanked CPAFFC for its long-term support in local governments' cooperation between our two countries.She stressed that our two countries should always follow the path of friendship. She and the Cambodian royal family are happy to see that bilateral friendly cooperation has been constantly developed. They stand ready to constantly push forward bilateral relations for more fruitful outcomes. President Li welcomed King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk to visit China at the right time for friendship and cooperation.

 Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Park Sam-gu, President of Republic of Korea and China Friendship Association (RKCFA) on April, 19. President Li congratulated President Park Sam-gu of his reelection of the President of RKCFA. She hoped President Park Sam-gu to make more efforts on promoting the normalization between China and Korea from the view of people-to-people. President Li reaffirmed that China opposed the deployment of THAAD system in ROK, and stressed that the Chinese side still insists on denuclearization of peninsula and suggests the dual suspension of both sides and moderate the peninsula crisis. President Li also hoped that Korea should keep calm and properly deal with the current sensitive issues, so as to avoid deteriorating of the situation. Park Sam-gu expressed that he understood the Chinese attitude and hoped that the Chinese side would play more important role in promoting peninsula denuclearization. He also said that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Korea. Both sides should take this as an opportunity to improve the bilateral relations. Mr. Sun Xueqing, Deputy Director General of Department of Asian and African Affairs, attended the meeting.   

  On April 13th, President Li Xiaolin met with Mark Hutchison,Lieutenant Governor of Nevada, United States. Vice President Xie Yuan attended the meeting. President Li introduced the function and work of CPAFFC. She said that CPAFFC has been committed to deepening friendship and enhancing mutual trust, in a bid to advance China-US people-to-people exchanges and sub-national cooperation. CPAFFC will make continuous efforts to advance friendly exchanges between China and the state of Nevada.  Governor Hutchison said that this was his first visit to China and this trip was rewarding. He expressed his hope to advance cooperation between  Nevada and China in various fields in the future. Governor Hutchison issued certificates of recognition to President Li  and Vice President Xie in high praise of their leadership in enhancing understanding between the American and Chinese people.    

On April 13, president Li Xiaolin and vice president Hu Sishe of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with former Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Yukio Hatoyama. President Li gave sincere appreciation for the support, which gave to the Chinese CPAFFC from Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, and expressed her pleasure to meet with Mr. Yukio Hatoyama again. She said that Mr. Yukio Hatoyama is our old friend, we are moved by Mr. Yukio Hatoyama’s  friendly opinions and proposals on China. President Li and Mr. Yukio Hatoyama also exchanged views on how to promote the more friendly relationship between China and Japan, international situation and issues of common concerned. Mr. Yukio Hatoyama expressed that he was very glad to see CPAFFC’s role in promoting friendly exchanges. The extensive cultural exchange activities of China and Japan developed by CPAFFC recently had stirred up wide appreciation. He also hoped to continue to support the people to people exchanges with CPAFFC.

Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with a delegation led by Mr. Kurt Karst, President of Federation of German-China Friendship Association (FGCFA) on April,10. Both sides had an in-depth discussion on cooperation, people-to-people diplomacy, the current European situation and etc. FGCFA was set up in December last year, which combined 16 friendly organizations to China. This Federation contributed to build a network of connection in Germany and create a new era of the people-to-people friendship. CPAFFC Vice President Song Jingwu attended the meeting. 

Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr. Franco Terenzi, former Captain Regent, President of San Marino-China Friendship Association on April,7. President Li spoke highly of the efforts and contributions President Franco Terenzi had made for years to the friendship between China and San Marino. She also invited President Franco Terenzi to attend the parallel panel discussion on the connectivity of people of the Belt and Road Initiatives Forum, which will be held in May this year. Mr. Franco Terenzi thanked President Li for inviting, and expressed that San Marino would further strengthen the friendly cooperation with China and improve the bilateral relations. Mr. Shen Xin，Deputy Director-General of the Department of European and Asian Affairs of CPAFFC, attended the meeting.

Co-hosted by the Chinese Peoples’ Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), France Fondation Vision Essilor(FFVE), Secours Populaire Fran?ais (SPF) and People’s Government of Xing County, Lv Liang City, Shanxi Province, the launching ceremony of the poverty alleviation program “Bright Sight, Viewing World” was held in Xing County Experiment School on the morning of March 31, 2017. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin was present and delivered a speech. President Li said, as an old revolutionary base area, Xing County had made immortal contributions to the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the founding and developing of new China. They are our common wishes that help the people living there to have a better life as soon as possible and build a well-off society in an all-round way together with the people of the whole country. Thanks FFE and SPF for giving support in developing poverty areas in China with honest and great love. There would be a great deal of work need to do for CPAFFC, since the work of the poverty alleviation just took the first step. CPAFFC would continue to make efforts together with the international friends  on overcoming poverty and achieving prosperity for Xing County as soon as possible. Mme. Aicha Mokdahi, Chairman of FFVE, Mr. He Yi, President of Essilor (China）Investment Co., Ltd., Mr. Hassouneh Ismail, Secretary of Secrétariat National of SPF, Mr. Jean-Louis Callens, Chairman of the branch of North and Mr. Liang Zhifeng, Secretary of County Party Committee, delivered speeches respectively. The term of the program is two years. FFE will hold lectures on vision-protecting in different schools in Xing County and screen the vision for 30000 students and donate 10000 pairs of glasses to them.

On March 28th, President Li Xiaolin of CPAFFC had a meeting with Angela A. Chao, deputy chairman of Foremost Group, and her husband Jim Breyer. They exchanged views on pushing forward China-U.S. relationship and people-to-people exchange.
