Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr. Korn Dabbaransi, President of Thailand-China Friendship Association (TCFA) on August 17th. President Li thanked President Korn Dabbaransi for having promoted China-Thailand friendship and having taken an active part in and supported China-ASEAN (10+1) activity for a long time. She said that our duties are to keep the friendship of the two countries from generation to generation, to make the “Belt and Road” Initiative benefited the two countries, the region and the people in the world, to share the concept of peaceful development, mutual benefit and win-win all over the world. She also hoped that the two associations could hold more influential activities so as to promote the pragmatic cooperation of local governments of the two countries and to play an important role in promoting official diplomacy by non-official diplomacy, improving political relations through economic cooperation and enhancing diplomatic relations with other countries through local governments' contacts.   President Korn Dabbaransi spoke highly of the active role CPAFFC had played in promoting the friendly relations among Thailand and China, ASEAN and China, and the exchanges of local governments. He said that “Thailand and China are one family” which is a kind of special deep friendship. TCFA is willing to consolidate and develop the friendship of the two countries as before. President Korn Dabbaransi expressed, China is the leader to development in Asia. The proposal and implement of the “Belt and Road” Initiative would benefit the countries and peoples in the region. He himself actively supports the great initiative. Mme. Lin Yi, Vice President of CPAFFC, attended the meeting.

On August 9, President Li Xiaolin and Consul General Zhang Qiyue from Chinese Consulate General in New York visited 93 year-old U.S. President 41 George H. W. Bush in Kennebunkport, Maine.  President Li and Consul General Zhang highly commended the significant contributions made by President Bush to the China-U.S. relations and wished him enjoying wonderful health and long life. President Bush told them that he still pays close attention to the bilateral relations and if he could make an international travel, China would be the only country that he wanted to go.

  President Li Xiaolin met with Terry Branstad, U.S. Ambassador to China, on July 31. President Li thanked Ambassador Brandstad for his support to CPAFFC, especially to the China-U.S. Governors Forum during his term as Governor of Iowa, and hoped he would extend continuous support in his new capacity to the work of CPAFFC and help promote China-U.S. subnational exchange and cooperation including the China-U.S. Governors Forum. Ambassador Brandstad spoke highly of the positive role played by CPAFFC in promoting U.S.-China subnational cooperation and sister cities relationship, and would like to push forward the rapid growth of subnational exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

On July 28, President Li Xiaolin had a meeting with delegation of 2017 U.S. Diplomatic Trade Mission to China, led by California Treasurer John Chiang. The delegation also includes nine California state assembly members and mayors. President Li introduced the history and function of CPAFFC as well as important activities that the CPAFFC has carried out in promoting China-U.S. sub-national exchanges and friendly relations. She expressed the hope to enhance the cooperative relationship between China and California. John Chiang expressed his gratitude to the CPAFFC and said that the purpose of this visit was to facilitate cooperation between California and China in infrastructure and transportation, hoping that the two sides will learn from each other to promote common development.

President Li Xiaolin met with Neil Bush, the third son of former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, President of Points of Light Foundation, and Co-chairman of the Board of CIIC Group, on July 25. Bush introduced the World Health Center project, which is jointly initiated by CIIC Group and the U.S. Texas Medical Center. He also expressed the will to work with CPAFFC to co-host the Seventh Forum on China-U.S. Relations in Beijing in autumn 2018, with the topic of China-U.S. cooperation in safeguarding global food security. President Li spoke highly of the Bush family for their care and support for the development of China-U.S. relationship over the years. She said the World Health Center project will bring the advanced medical technology and managerial expertise of the United States to China, so as to improve the overall health of the Chinese people. She suggested that the two sides should work together to make steady progress for the project.

Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr. Choi Moon-soon，President of Governors Association of Korea, Governor of Gangwon Province, and his delegation on July 25th. President Li Xiaolin said that last year, China-Korea Governors Conference was commonly held in Korea by CPAFFC and Governors Association of Korea, which achieved good result. It is of important significance for promoting healthy development of bilateral relations to strengthen the exchange of local governments between China and Korea. She hoped Choi Moon-soon to continue playing an active role in improving bilateral ties. Choi Moon-soon introduced the preparations about the 23rd Winter Olympics will be held in Pyeongchang County, Gangwon in February next year. He hoped that Chinese side could give support and assistance. Choi Moon-soon expressed that they are willing to push bilateral relations for improvement through developing the exchanges of the two countries in various fields. Mr. Sun Xueqing，Director-General of Department of Asian and African Affairs of CPAFFC, Mr. Lv Zhongxie, Counsellor of Korean Embassy in China, attended the meeting.

Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr. KUME NOBUHIRO, Chairman of Japan RBA International and his delegation on July 20th. CPAFFC Vice President Hu Sishe attended the meeting. President Li Xiaolin thanked RBA International for giving support in the work of CPAFFC. She said that Chairman KUME NOBUHIRO is not only an old friend of Chinese people, but also a good friend of CPAFFC. He has a strong feeling to China. In recent years, some programs jointly organized by RBA International and CPAFFC, such as “China-Japan-Korea Art Exchanges on Flower Arrangements”,  “China-Japan-Korea Exchanges on Fashion”, had become new platforms and brand projects for the countries to develop people-to-people exchanges activities, which achieved highly recognition among the countries. President Li hoped that RBA International could continue to work for the culture exchange of people-to-people between China and Japan, so as to enhance the feeling of the two peoples. Chairman KUME NOBUHIRO thanked President Li and Vice President Hu for taking their time to meet the delegation. He said, a country could not exist in complete isolation like a man could not live in the world of isolation. Therefore, RBA International hoped to establish a platform to communicate and share experience with other persons by the culture exchange. RBA International will continue making efforts on the exchange of the two peoples with the support of President Li, and also hope to spread the friendly exchange to other countries.                               

Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr. YOKOI YUTAKA, Japanese Ambassador to China on July 11. Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of CPAFFC, Mr. ISHIKAWA HIROSH and Mr. YAMAMOTO YASUSHI, Ministers of Japanese Embassy in China, attended the meeting. President Li said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations, next year will mark the 40th anniversary of Conclusion of Treaty of Peace and Friendship. China-Japan relations play an important role in the past and in the further. Chinese side is actively promoting construction of the Belt and Road. There are broad space and huge potential to cooperate in the fields of economy and trade for the two countries. It is hoped that Japan can meet China halfway. Both sides could strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in various fields, consolidate the basis of public opinion and push bilateral relations back to healthy and stable development track.  Ambassador YOKOI YUTAKA said that Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzō had a friendly discussion with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the G20 Hamburg Summit. Japanese side is willing to take the 45th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations and the 40th anniversary of Conclusion of Treaty of Peace and Friendship as opportunities to push bilateral relations for improvement.

Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Russia on July 4th. During the visiting, the 11th Plenary Conference of China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development (CRFCPD) was held in Moscow. Mr. Dai Bingguo, Chinese Chairman of CRFCPD, Mrs. Deng Rong, Chinese Vice Chairperson of CRFCPD, Mr. Titov, Russian Chairman of CRFCPD, and two Presidents of both side Councils as well as representatives, attended the conference. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin attended the conference and made a speech as Chairperson of Think Tank Council. President Li said, it is a great significance to further strengthen the people-to-people friendly relationship of the two countries under the background of the current thriving China-Russia relationship. President Li made suggestions that both countries should continue enhancing the two governments’ attention to the people-to-people friendly work between China and Russia, and strengthening the strategic leadership; carrying forward the friendly spirit of two countries and endowing it with the meaning of new era; cultivating the successors of Sino-Russian friendship by strengthening the exchange of youth; taking advantage of the platform of friendly cities to deepen the cooperation of local governments, and other advice, which aroused strong sympathetic response from participants. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of CRFCPD, which are paid high attention by the two heads of states and governments.

On June 29, President Li Xiaolin met with Efi Stenzler, former president of KKL-JNF of Israel. President Li fondly recalled her visit to Israel back in 2014 at the invitation of President Stenzler. She wishes to expand the cooperation between CPAFFC, CFFPD and KKL-JNF on the basis of the memorandum on cooperation signed in 2014. Stenzler spoke highly on China's amazing development. He promises to deepen cooperation between the three organizations so as to jointly contribute to world peace and development.
