President Li Xiaolin Attends Opening Ceremony of the Chinese Cultural Exhibition Series Meet China in Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Karl Marx’s Birth
In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth, the opening ceremony of the Chinese Cultural Exhibition Series Meet China in Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Karl Marx’s Birth jointly held by the CPAFFC, General Directorate for Cultural Heritage Rhineland-Palatinate (German: Generaldirektion Kulturelles Erbe, or GDKE) and Federation of German-Chinese Friendship Association (German: Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher China-gesellschaften, or ADCG) was held on June 1st in Thermen am Viehmarkt in Trier, Germany.
CPAFFC president Li Xiaolin, Vice governor of Jiangxi Ms. Wu Zhongqiong, Consul General of Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt Mr. Wang Shunqing, Minister of Science, Lifelong Learning and Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate Dr. Konrad Wolf, President of ADCG Mr. Kurt Karst, Curator of Rheinisches Landesmuseum Mr. Marcus Reuter, together with about 200 honored guests from Rhineland-Palatinate government, friendship associations, and commercial, academic and artistic fields were present at the event.
President Li Xiaolin Delivered a Speech
In her speech at the opening ceremony, President Li Xiaolin pointed out that the exhibition series selected photos, paintings, handicrafts, historical books, and performances in different areas of China with distinct ethnic characteristics. The visitors can appreciate the charm of Chinese culture through the exhibits, find out tremendous changes of China’s society, and feel the pulse of China’s development in the new era. In this way, they may fall in love with China and begin their real journey to China immediately after our exhibition. She hopes that the exhibition will serve as a window for the Germans to know more of China, a bridge for the two peoples to connect their feelings and friendship, and a tie to strengthen communication and mutual learning between German and Chinese cultures and to link friendly exchanges between the provinces or cities of the two countries.
Minister Dr. Konrad Wolf Delivered a Speech
Dr. Wolf stated that mutual recognition and communication among different cultures would not only cross political and economic boundaries but also facilitate mutual understanding among different peoples so as to promote developments in the fields of politics, economics and so on. The 7 provinces/cities engaged in the cultural exhibition series represent almost a quarter of China’s landscape, enabling people in Trier to know better of China, a charming country with various facets, through different activities related to the exhibition.

Jointly launched by Jiangxi, Beijing, Shandong, Qinghai, Chengdu of Sichuan Province, Baoshan of Yunnan Province and Shaoxing of Zhejiang Province, the Chinese cultural exhibition series will be open for 4 months, from 1, June to 30, September. As the first exhibition of the exhibition series, spirit of Jiangxi, taste of China made its debut on June 1st. President Li Xiaolin, together with Vice Governor of Jiangxi Ms.Wu Zhongqiong and Minister Konrad Wolf launched the exhibition at the opening ceremony on June 1st .

CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin Attends the Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Panasonic
The celebration of the 100th anniversary of Panasonic was held in Beijing on May 28, 2018. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin attended and addressed the event as a special guest.
Mme. Li Xiaolin congratulated Panasonic on the 100th anniversary of its founding and said that on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up and the 40th anniversary of the Sino-Japanese Peace and Friendship Treaty, the Chinese people will not forget that Panasonic was one of the first major Japanese companies to participate in China’s reform and opening up, and made valuable contributions to China’s modernization and China-Japan economic and trade cooperation. In the meanwhile, the company is actively committed to the cause of China-Japan friendship. Through the establishment of the Panasonic Education Fund and the Panasonic Scholarship, it has carried out a large number of public benefit activities in cooperation with the CPAFFC, the China-Japan Friendship Association and other Chinese institutions and local governments, making active efforts to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and maintain the sound and stable development of China-Japan relations.
Mme. Li Xiaolin said that at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2018, President Xi Jinping declared to the world China’s firm determination to further expand its opening up, which means huge opportunities for all countries including Japan. We sincerely hope that Panasonic will seize China's development opportunities on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, continue to push forward the bilateral economic and trade cooperation and make new contributions to the steady and long-term development of China-Japan relations.
In his speech, President of Panasonic Tsuga Kazuhiro expressed appreciation for China’s long-term support for Panasonic and said that this year marks the 100th anniversary of Panasonic’s founding and the 40th anniversary of its business in China. Panasonic cannot make such achievements without the historical opportunity brought by China’s reform and opening up. In the next 100 years, Panasonic will continue to take on its social responsibility, stick to China-Japan cooperation, and join hands with China to contribute to the prosperity of Asia and the world.
During the celebration, Panasonic donated another 3 million yuan to the Panasonic Education Fund through the CPAFFC, so as to continue its support for the training of Chinese young talents. Mme. Li Xiaolin and Mr. Tsuga Kazuhiro attended the donation ceremony. In 1995, then President of Panasonic Matsushita Masaharu donated 1 million U.S. dollars to the CPAFFC and founded the Panasonic Education Fund, to support China’s university students who are academically talented but have financial difficulties to complete their studies. So far, the fund has awarded scholarships worth over 10 million yuan to 9421 students of 39 universities in 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China.

President Li Xiaolin Meets Utah Legislature Delegation from U.S.
On May 7th, President Li Xiaolin met Utah legislature delegation led by President Wayne Niederhauser of the Senate and Speaker Gregory H. Hughes from the House.
Madam Li introduced the function of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the three major China-U.S. sub-national cooperative mechanisms. She highly recognized the long-term efforts that Utah legislature has made in promoting cooperation with Chinese counterparts. She hoped that by visiting China, the delegation could gain more understanding about China and make more contributions to bilateral cooperation in legislation, trade, education, tourism and other fields.
President Niederhauser and Speaker Hughes spoke highly of CPAFFC’s replaceable role in US-China sub-national exchanges. They believe that cooperation will bring mutual benefits while conflicts will make opposite effect on the two sides. They are willing to push forward exchanges and cooperation between Utah and China in all aspects.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Mayor of Lyon, France
Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr. Gorges KEPENEKIAN, Mayor of Lyon, France, on May 4th, 2018.
Gorges KEPENEKIAN said that Lyon keeps a special friendly relationship with China. Lyon is the first city to have opened Chinese language department in France. China-France University in Lyon had trained leaders in the fields of culture, art, education and etc.during the period of New China. Wuhan-EU Railway Express between Wuhan and Lyon is the first China Railway Express which sets France as the destination. Moreover, the exchanges of the friendly cities between Lyon and Guangzhou had achieved great results. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the friendly relations of the two cities, therefore, the two cities will hold grand activities to celebrate. Lyon is located on the route of ancient silk road, and will actively take part in the Belt and Road Initiatives.
President Li Xiaolin thanked Mayor Gorges KEPENEKIAN for reviewing the traditional friendship between Lyon and China, and giving support in the Belt and Road Initiatives. She said that CPAFFC would continue to give support and promote the local cooperation between China and France as before, and hope Lyon to actively participate in the local pragmatic cooperation between China and France.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with the Chinese University of Hong Kong President Rocky S. Tuan
Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met in Beijing with Mr. Rocky S. Tuan, President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and his delegation on May 3rd.
President Li said that CPAFFC and CFFPD (China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development) expected to cooperate closely with CUHK during the World Philanthropy Forum, and would actively participate the plan for training of social work talents with Tsinghua University and CUHK so as to train and educate the leading talents of public welfare for the cause of the friendship of the peoples between Chinese and foreign countries.
Mr. Rocky S. Tuan stated that CUHK would actively contribute resources and strength to the World Philanthropy Forum and also give the plan for training of social work talents a lot of support in implementing as soon as possible, which demonstrated the contributions CUHK had made to the peaceful development of the nation and the world.

President Li Xiaolin met with visiting President of the Republic of Korea-China Friendship Association Park Sam-koo on April 25, 2018.
President Li welcomed Park Sam-koo and his delegation to visit China and exchanged opinions with him on the recent China-Republic of Korea relations and the situation of the Korean Peninsula. President Li spoke highly of the positive changes in the situation on the peninsula since the beginning of this year, and expressed her willingness to continue to play a constructive role on the Korean Peninsula issue and work together with the Republic of Korea side to contribute more to maintaining the momentum of relaxation on the peninsula.
Park Sam-koo thanked President Li for sparing her time to meet with him, and expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the Chinese side to improve the situation on the peninsula and expectations for the success and positive outcome of the inter-Korean summit and other dialogues.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Panamanian President’s wife LORENA CASTILLO DE VARELA
Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mme. LORENA CASTILLO DE VARELA, Panamanian President’s wife, and her delegation on the invitation of CPAFFC on April 23rd.
On behalf of CPAFFC, President Li Xiaolin welcomed LORENA CASTILLO DE VARELA to China and said that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Panama is an important highlight for the national relations between China and Latin America and Caribbean Friendship Association , and even for the international relations in 2017, which turned a new page for the bilateral relations. CPAFFC has been keeping close contacts with Panama-China Friendship Association and does lots of work for the promotion of the friendly exchanges of the two countries. The prevention of AIDS , the eradication of poverty and the strengthening of women and children education to which Mme. LORENA CASTILLO DE VARELA pays attention are also the main work for CPAFFC. President Li expressed that CPAFFC is willing to further develop exchanges in these fields with the relevant organizations from Panamanian side.
LORENA CASTILLO DE VARELA thanked CPAFFC for inviting them to visit China and giving them warm reception. She also expressed that Panamanian side attaches great importance to the friendly relations with China and expects to develop the exchanges in various fields with CPAFFC.

Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met in Beijing with Mr. TAKUYA TASSO, Governor of Iwate-ken, and his delegation on April 16th. Mme. Zhou Hong, President of Yunnan People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (YPAFFC), Mme. Zhu Dan, Deputy Director-General of Department of Japanese Affairs of CPAFFC, Mr. SASAKI JUNICHI, Speaker of Iwate-ken, Mr. YAMURA KUNIHISA, President of Iwate-ken Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation, and etc., attended the meeting.
President Li extended welcome to Governor TAKUYA TASSO and Speaker SASAKI JUNICHI together visiting China, and thanked Iwate-ken personages from all walks of life for upholding principle of being friendly to China for a long time. She said that Iwate-ken developed colorful exchanges and cooperation with Yunnan Province and other relevant regions in China, which not only enhanced the mutual understanding and friendly feelings between the two peoples, but also brought benefits for the social development of the two countries. President Li said that, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of a treaty of peace and friendship between China and Japan, and the 40th anniversary of Chinese reform and opening-up as well as the 45th anniversary of the exchanges of the friendly cities between China and Japan, which are beneficial to the improvement of the bilateral relations. In the Boao Forum for Asian Annual Conference 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping made it clear to all that China’s door of opening-up will not be closed and will only open even wider. China will continue to adhere to its fundamental national policy of opening-up and to promote the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). This way, we can make the BRI the broadest platform for international cooperation in keeping with the trend of economic globalization. President Li expected both sides could deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in relevant fields and work together to further push the exchanges and cooperation of the two countries for improvement.
Governor TAKUYA TASSO made a brief introduction about the exchanges and cooperation developed by Iwate -ken with China in recent year and said that the personages from all walks of life in Iwate-ken attached importance to the exchanges with China. Iwate-ken Dalian Economic Office was founded in 2005. Iwate-ken also established friendly exchange relations with Yunnan Province in 2013. He expressed that the delegation would also visit Yunnan Province except Beijing and will present the foundation ceremony of Representative Office of Iwate Industry Promotion Center in Yunnan. The various circles in Iwate-ken would like to catch up the opportunities to further promote the exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields and make efforts on the improvement bilateral relations from local-level.
