Vice President Xie Yuan Meets with Mary Kay’s Asia Pacific President
On January 6th, Vice President Xie Yuan had a meeting with K. K. Chua, president of Mary Kay Asia Pacific.
After briefing about the fruitful results the CPAFFC has made in pushing forward China-U.S. sub-national exchanges and cooperation, Vice President Xie pointed out that economic and trade cooperation is an important pillar in China-U.S. relationship and the bilateral subnational exchanges as well. He hoped that Mary Kay will continue to maintain a healthy China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation and make greater contributions to the bilateral relationship after the U.S. new administration comes into office.
President Chua talked about the clear view held by Mary Kay on the importance of stable U.S-China relations to the growth of U.S. companies in China since its entrance into the Chinese market in 1995. Mary Kay will carry forward its efforts in delivering positive messages to the U.S. business and political circles and make unremitting contributions to the U.S.-China relations.

Vice President Xie Yuan met with Columbia SIPA China Delegation on January 4, 2017.
Vice President Xie briefed the delegation on CPAFFC basics. He said that China-US relationship is one of the most important bilateral relationship in the world. CPAFFC has been dedicated to enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the people, especially the young people of the two countries. He hoped delegation members take this trip to China as an opportunity to learn more about Chinese politics, economics and culture, contributing youth wisdom and strength to the development of China-US relations.
Nicholas Reinhold, a graduate student at Columbia SIPA pursuing a Masters in International Affairs, on behalf of the delegation, thanked CPAFFC for its warm reception. He said, most of the members of the Delegation were on their first visit to China, expecting more opportunities to visit China in the future. He also hoped to leverage their expertise to promote the development of US-China relations.
Vice President Xie Yuan Meets with Polish Conductor Krzysztof Penderecki and attends 2017 Beijing New Year’s Concert
On December 31, Vice President Xie Yuan attended the 21st Beijing New Year’s Concert at the Great Hall of the People. Co-produced by the CPAFFC, Beijing State-owned Assets Management Co.,Ltd. and Beijing Beiao Group, this concert featured the 84-year-old Polish composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki, Beethoven Festival Orchestra, and Chinese pianist Wu Muye..
Before the performance, Vice President Xie met with the conductor. He extended his warm welcome to Mr Penderecki heading the orchestra on their visit to China. He thanked them for bringing a world-class concert of Beethoven’s music to the audience in Beijing, and appreciated the efforts they made for the friendship and artistic exchanges between Chinese and Polish people.
As a tribute to Beethoven on the eve of the year that marks the 190th anniversary of his death, Penderecki selected a vast repertoire of his masterpieces - Creatures of Prometheus, Symphony No 4 in B-flat Major Op.60, Piano concerto No 5 in E flat Op. 73, and Symphony No 7 in A major. Cooperating with Pianist Wu, he also sent new year greetings with a Chinese piece Ode to the Red Flag to the delight of the audience.
2017 Beijing New Year’s Ballet Staged at the Great Hall of the People
The 2017 Beijing New Year’s Ballet Swan Lake was put on stage on Dec 30 at the Great Hall of the People, which was jointly produced by the CPAFFC, Beijing State-owned Assets Management Co.,Ltd. and Beijing Beiao Group.
The performance given by Ukraine's Kiev Ballet, also known as the National Ballet of Ukraine, had attracted over 6,000 people. The famous Dance of the Swans and the highly difficult 32 fouetté turns perfromed by the troupe won loud applause.
Founded in 1867, Kiev Ballet is renowned for its world-class presentation of classical ballet. Under the renowned choreographers Serguey Sergueev and Vakhtang Vronskiy, it is among the most distinguished ballet groups in the world.
Vice President Lin Yi Meets with Mr. Amit Narang, the DCM of the Indian Embassy in China
The CPAFFC Vice President Ms. Lin Yi met with Mr. Amit Narang, the newly-appointed Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Indian Embassy in China on December 27th.
Vice President Lin Yi warmly welcomed Mr. Narang and highly appreciated the substantial support from the Indian Embassy for the past years. She made positive comments on the exchange programs jointly organized by our association and the Indian Embassy and looked forward to collaborating on more people-to-people as well as local governmental exchanges in the year 2017.
Mr. Narang thanked the CPAFFC for its consistent support to the Indian Embassy in China. He said that the Embassy has maintained good collaborative relations with the CPAFFC and carried out various non-governmental exchange programs. He hoped to work with the CPAFFC on the International Yoga Day and the Second Forum of Leaders of the Regions of India and China.

Vice President Xie Yuan Meets with Peruvian Ambassador to China Carlos Capnay
At the invitation of Peruvian Embassy in China, Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with the Peruvian Ambassador to China Carlos Capnay on December 20th.
Vice President Xie Yuan reviewed the reception held by CPAFFC recently for celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Peru as well as the general situation of the delegation from CPAFFC visiting Peru. He also made a brief introduction about the future plan of the people-to-people friendship of the two countries and thanked Ambassador Carlos Capnay for his support to the work of CPAFFC. Ambassador Carlos Capnay spoke highly of the contributions CPAFFC had made to the friendship of the two peoples and extended congratulations on the delegation from CPAFFC visiting Peru. Ambassador Carlos Capnay hoped to keep close contact with CPAFFC to assist the different Peruvian friendly organizations, regions and cities to strengthen the cooperation with CPAFFC in the fields of the cultural folk customs, youth, local exchanges and etc..

CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi Meets New Ambassador of Kuwait to China
CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi met with H.E. Mr. Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, New Ambassador of Kuwait to China on 14th December.
Mr. Sameeh thanked Vice President Lin for sparing time to meet him. He said Kuwait supported the “Belt and Road” Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and expressed willingness to further consolidate people-to-people friendship between Kuwait and China based on the smooth development of bilateral relations in the fields of politics, trade and economy, etc.
Vice President Lin introduced the work of the CPAFFC and the China Arab Friendship Association, and said that the CPAFFC would like to maintain communication and coordination with the embassy to make greater effort in promoting friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and Kuwait.

Vice President of CPAFFC Xie Yuan Visits Peru
At the invitation of Instituto Cultural Peruano Chino, a delegation led by Mr. Xie Yuan, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) visited Peru from December 10 to 12, 2016.
During the visiting, Vice President Xie Yuan met with the personages from various circles including former Peruvian Vice President Almirante Luis Giampietri, Member of the Peruvian Congress and Presidenta de la Liga Parlamentaria Peru China, Nelly Cuadros, Chairman of Department of Lima Nelson Chui and the former Peruvian Ambassador to China Chen Lu and etc.. They exchanged their views on further promoting the people-to-people diplomatic work of the two countries in various fields and hoped to continue to enhance the traditional friendship and push forward the bilateral relations.
The delegation held working meetings respectively with Instituto Cultural Peruano Chino, Fundacion Amistad Peruano Chino, Asociacion de Empresarios Peruano Chino. The heads of these Peruvian friendly organizations including Secretary-General of Asociacion de Empresarios Peruano Chino He Lianxiang, President of Instituto Cultural Peruano Chino Eduardo Yang Motta, President of Fundacion Amistad Peruano Chino Cesar Loo thanked CPAFFC for its support and assistance for a long time. All parties reached extensive consensus on strengthening the cooperation of different organizations in the fields of the local exchanges, folk culture and youth exchanges. Peruvian Ambassador to China Carlos Capnay made a special telephone call from Beijing to extend welcome to the delegation visiting Peru. The delegation was invited to observe the general election of Villa Tusan.

NPC Vice Chairman Arken Imirbaki Meets with Oman-China Friendship Association Delegation
H.E. Mr. Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and President of the Chinese-Arab Friendship Association (CAFA), met with Oman-China Friendship Association (OCFA) delegation led by Mr. Khalid Salim Said, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Oman-China Friendship Association and Secretary General of the State Council of Oman on December 12th.
Vice Chairman Arken Imirbaki extended welcome to the delegation and happily reviewed his visiting to Oman in March this year. He said, China and Oman enjoy profound friendship. In recent years, the two associations jointly developed series of people-to-people friendly exchanges activities, which enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. Both sides should continue to strengthen the exchanges, develop rich activities and promote the development of the bilateral relations.
Khalid Salim Said thanked Arken Imirbaki for taking time to meet the delegation. He expressed, Oman pays high attention to the friendly cooperative relations with China. OCFA is willing to strengthen the exchanges with the Chinese side and push forward the cooperation of the two countries in fields of culture, tourism, economics, trade, investment and etc..

Reception in Celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Iceland Diplomatic Relations Held in Beijing
On December 8th, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Embassy of Iceland in Beijing jointly held a reception for the 45th anniversary of China-Iceland diplomatic relations. Mr Zhou Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of the the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr. Olafur Grimsson, Former President of Iceland, Mme. Zhang Qiujian, Deputy Secretary General of CPPCC, Mr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of the CPAFFC, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing, Ambassador Stefan Skjaldarson of Iceland, together with over 150 guests from CPPCC, the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Commerce, Institute of the International Affairs, Beijing Foreign Studies University, People's Literature Publishing House, China International Publishing Group, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sinopec, as well as diplomats from the Embassy of Iceland, and representatives from all sectors attended the reception.
Vice President Hu Sishe said in the speech that China would like to take the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, to work with Iceland, further enhance the practical cooperation in various sectors, and bring bilateral relations to a new level.
Ambassador Stefan Skjaldarson highly appreciated the support from China in 2008 through IMF, at the very time that Iceland was struck with financial crisis. He said Iceland people will take this friendship at heart forever. Iceland and China have a bright future on artic cooperation.
