Vice President Xie Yuan Visited the U.S.
At the invitation of the Alaska State Government, CPAFFC Vice President Xie Yuan led a delegation to visit the State of Washington and the State of Alaska from February 6th to 11th. He held in-depth discussions with Lt. Governor Cyrus Habib of Washington State, Chief of Staff David Postman of Washington Governor’s Office, Governor Bill Walker and Mrs. Walker of Alaska, Lt. Governor Byron Mallot and Mrs. Mallot of Alaska, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz of Anchorage, Manager Jim Szczesniak of Ted Stevens International Airport, Chief Investment Officer Russel Read of Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, Vice President Ma Kuanchi of American Flying Tigers Heritage Foundation.
Vice President Xie Yuan made a review on the fruitful cooperation results between Washington State, Alaska State and China in recent years, and hightly commended the important contribution that Governor Inslee, Governor Walker, Lt. Governors and others had made in this regard. He said that China-U.S. sub-national cooperation, with strong vitality and potential, was an important foundation of bilateral relationship. It is hoped that the two sides could seize opportunities to enhance sub-national cooperation, for the better of the two peoples. He also invited the U.S. side to participate in the 4th China-U.S. Governors Forum, 3rd China-U.S. Sub-national Legislatures Cooperation Forum, China International Import Expo, and other important mechanism meetings.
The officials of Washington State and Alaska State all agreed that cooperation with China would bring great development opportunities for their respective state, and expressed willingness to deepen cooperation with China in the areas of economic and trade, sister state/province and sister cities relationship, energy, tourism, direct flight, people-to-people exchanges, through participation in the China-U.S. sub-national coopertion mechanisms, mutual visits, and other activities.
Vice President Song Jingwu Attends Opening Ceremony of China-Russia Local Cooperation and Exchange Year
Mr. Song Jingwu, the Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and China-Russia Friendship Association (CRFA), attended the opening ceremony of the year of China-Russia local cooperation and exchange held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province on February 7th.
On the opening ceremony, Mr. Wang Yang, the Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Vice Premier of State Council, and Mr. Yury Trutnev, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and the Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, read respectively the congratulatory messages from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin and also delivered speeches. Mr. Wang Yang and Mr. Yury Trutnev, attended the Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation of the Northeast China and the Far East and Baikal Region of Russia.
Secretary General Li Xikui Attends Signing Ceremony of CFFPD’S Donation of Gamma Knife to Lalla Salma Foundation
The signing ceremony that China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD) donated Gamma Knife to Lalla Salma Foundation was held in Beijing on February 7th , 2018.
Mr. Li Xikui, Secretary General of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Director of CFFPD, Mr. Cao Shudong, Deputy General Manager of China National Nuclear Corporation, Mme. Jia Ling, Secretary General of CFFPD, Mr. Meng Yanbin,Chairman of the Board of China Isotope & Radiation Corporation (CIRC), Mme. Latifa ELAbida, Secretary General of Lalla Salma Foundation of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Mourad Layachi, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco to China, Mr.Khalil Mohammed, President of Morocco-China Friendship Association (MCFA) and other leaders, attended the signing ceremony.
Secretary General Li Xikui said in his speech that China and Morocco enjoy a long history of the friendly exchange. The bilateral relations have been keeping sustainable and healthy development. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Morocco. CPAFFC and CFFPD would take this donation as an opportunity to continue strengthening the exchanges and cooperation with Lalla Salma Foundation and MCFA to introduce relevant instruments into Morocco and put them into use as soon as possible so as to be beneficial to the tens of millions of people in Morocco and the people of other countries in Africa, implement the initiative proposed by the Chinese President Xi Jinping about the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, assist the people-to-people connectivity between China and Morocco, and make contributions to the charity and health care in Morocco and Africa.
Secretary General Latifa ELAbida appreciated CFFPD for its generous donation. She said, after the signing of the agreement of the Gamma Knife donation, the partnership between the two countries was further improved, which gave great support to the cause of humanism engaged by Lalla Salma Foundation. This donation would open up a new situation for the cooperation between the two countries and pave the way for the friendly cooperation of the two peoples. She also congratulated China on making great achievements in the fields of the economy, social, technique and etc., and hoped that China would be more prosperous and the friendship between China and Morocco would be passed from generation to generation.
During the activity, CFFPD Secretary General Jia Ling signed 《Donation Agreement》with Lalla Salma Foundation Secretary General Latifa ELAbida.
Lalla Salma Foundation was founded by Morocco princess Lalla Salma in the year of 2005. It dedicates to curing the cancer patients in Morocco, especially treating the child patients to recover.
The Gamma Knife donated this time is produced by MASEP Medical Science Technology Development (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. Its radioactivity source is supplied by China Isotope & Radiation Corporation. The Gamma Knife is high-end and large-sized medical facility with China’s independent production and its own independent intellectual property rights. It is worth about 20 million RMB. In future, it will serve as the second Gamma Knife in Morocco to provide the most advanced radiology diagnosis and treatment service for the tens of millions of people in the middle, eastern and southern area f Morocco.
Vice President Song Jingwu Meets with WATANABE HIDEO
Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Mr. WATANABE HIDEO, former Minister of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Japan in Beijing on February 6th. Both sides exchanged their views on the bilateral relations and talked about the friendly exchanges between people of two countries as well as the relevant commemorative activities on the 40th anniversary of the Conclusion of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan, and other topics.

Secretary General Li Xikui Meets with and holds a banquet for ORU-Fogar Secretary General Carles Llorens
Mr. Li Xikui, Secretary General of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with and held a banquet for Mr. Carles Llorens, Secretary General of ORU-Fogar on February 5th.
Carles Llorens is an old friend of China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD). He had several meetings with the delegations from CFFPD led by Secretary General Li Xikui before. The purpose of his visiting to China this time is to discuss with CFFPD about the cooperation in the next stage. Secretary General Li Xikui said that CPAFFC and CFFPD would like to make use of their own resources to strengthen the exchange and deepen the mutual understanding with ORU-Fogar and actively take part in the activities launched by this organization to promote the cooperation of local governments between Chinese and foreign countries.

Vice President Hu Sishe Attends the Launching Ceremony of the Documentary "Traditional Chinese Medicine, New World" and the International Touring Exhibition of TCM Culture
In order to promote traditional Chinese medicine to “go globe”, the CPAFFC launched the full-length documentary "Traditional Chinese Medicine, New World" and intends to hold international touring exhibitions on traditional Chinese medicine in cooperation with China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio (Group) and Beijing 1+1 Cultural Development Company. The series of events are organized by the China Friendship Art Exchange Association.
The launching ceremony was held on January 30th in the CPAFFC Auditorium. Mr. Hu Sishe, Vice President of CPAFFC, Mr. Zhang Haitao, President of the China Alliance of Radio, Film and Television, Mr. Yang Longhui, Vice President of the China Academy of Chinese Traditional Medical Sciences, Mr. Zhu Haidong, Deputy Director General of International Cooperation Department of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mr. Zhao Jie, Vice President of China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio (Group), Mr. Zou Yanjun, President of Beijing 1+1 Cultural Development Company, Mr. Wang Heshan, Secretary General of the China Friendship Art Exchange Association, Prof. Guo De’an, Director of National Engineering Laboratory for TCM Standardization Technology and Dr. Lin Hongsheng, Deputy Director of National TCM Center of Tumour, attended the launching ceremony.
Through the experiences of those who have witnessed the development of traditional Chinese medicine in person and the stories about the “going globe” of traditional Chinese medicine, the documentary "Traditional Chinese Medicine, New World" reflects the history and current situation of the overseas spread of traditional Chinese medicine and demonstrates the era of passion of those lively characters, from the perspectives of international access and recognition, overseas education, cultural communication and international cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine.
The international touring exhibition aims to demonstrate the culture of traditional Chinese medicine and promote the exchanges between China and other countries. It integrates knowledge, interest and interactivity to show the history and future of the culture of traditional Chinese medicine comprehensively at a closer range.
At the launching ceremony, Vice President Hu Sishe pointed out that traditional Chinese medicine has become a beautiful business card of Chinese culture and will play an increasingly important role in exchanges and cooperation with other countries. He said that the CPAFFC would build a platform for close dialogues and cooperation between traditional Chinese medicine and the world, and introduce the history and inheritance, innovation and development, and scientific and philosophical systems of traditional Chinese medicine to various countries and regions respectively.
In his speech, Mr. Zhang Haitao said it is a focus of current work to follow the Belt and Road Initiative and allow the Chinese traditional culture, including traditional Chinese medicine, to go globe through cultural products, cultural exchange activities, international cultural cooperation, etc. The documentary and the touring exhibition will facilitate understanding the cultural connotation of traditional Chinese medicine for domestic and overseas audience in a more direct and comprehensive way. Mr. Zhao Jie said that he hopes that the documentary "Traditional Chinese Medicine, New World" will become the most touching record of the internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine and the best carrier for promoting the international cultural exchange of traditional Chinese medicine.
The documentary "Traditional Chinese Medicine, New World" will be launched after the ceremony, and the international touring exhibition is also under preparation. The program will be a powerful attempt to promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine through cultural exchanges, and will also contribute to building China’s cultural confidence.
Vice President Lin Yi Meets H.E. Mr. Charles Namondwe, Ambassador of Malawi to China
On January 24, CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi met with H.E. Mr. Charles Namondwe, Ambassador of Malawi to China.
Ambassador Namondwe started by thanking the CPAFFC for the support in holding the reception celebrating the 10th anniversary of Malawi-China relations. The successful cooperation between the embassy and the CPAFFC is exactly an embodiment of friendship between the two countries. The embassy would like to stay in contact and keep close cooperation with the CPAFFC to promote the bilateral relations to achieve greater development in the next decade.
CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Namondwe and the embassy for long-term support to the CPAFFC and introduced the work plans with regard to Malawi this year. She also said that the CPAFFC will continue to promote the development of both governmental and people-to-people relations between China and Malawi.

Vice President Xie Yuan Meets Nell Calloway, Granddaughter of General Chennault of Flying Tigers
On Jan. 22nd, Vice President Xie Yuan met with General Chennault’s granddaughter Nell Calloway, CEO of Gen. Chennault Aviation and Military Museum and CEO of Gen. Chennault Flying Tigers Academy.
Vice President Xie welcomed Nell Calloway and her delegation. He spoke highly of her continuous efforts in carrying on the Flying Tiger’s spirit, pushing forward China-U.S. relationship and commemorating the history of Chinese and US soldiers and people jointly fighting against the Fascist during the Second World War. He said that CPAFFC would always support the Chennault family and wished the Gen. Chennault Flying Tigers Academy authorized by Nell Calloway could have smooth and successful cooperation with its Chinese counterparts.
Nell Calloway extended her appreciation to CPAFFC for the long term support and help to her family. She said that the Flying Tigers Academy had inherited the friendship between Gen. Chennault and the Chinese people. She wished to expand cooperation in more fields with CPAFFC to commemorate the history, look forward into the future and make positive contributions to friendship and peace between our two countries.
