CPAFFC Vice President Lin Yi meets with Puso Gaborone, the Chairman of Botswana-China Friendship Association
On August 31, Mme. Lin Yi, the CPAFFC Vice President, met with H.E. Mr. Puso Gaborone, the Chairman of the Botswana China Friendship Association (BOCFA) and the Chairman of House of Chiefs of Botswana.
Lin Yi briefed Gaborone on the CPAFFC’s cooperation projects on China-Africa friendship in recent years. She said that the CPAFFC will continue to work with friendship-with-China organizations in Africa, with the BOCFA included, to promote China-Africa people-to-people friendship in culture, charity, vocational training and other areas.
Gaborone spoke highly of the CPAFFC’s important role in strengthening China-Africa friendly relations and said that he will lead the BOCFA to stay in close contact with the CPAFFC, to jointly contribute to deepening China-Africa people-to-people mutual understanding and friendship, as well as promoting China-Africa friendly and pragmatic cooperation.
The two sides also exchanged views on the forthcoming Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and discussed cooperation projects between the two friendship associations in the future.

Vice President Song Jingwu Meets with Former Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Yamaguchi Tsuyoshi
On August 30, Vice President Song Jingwu met with Yamaguchi Tsuyoshi, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and member of the House of Representatives. Zhu Dan, Deputy Director General of Department of Japanese Affairs of the CPAFFC, was present at the meeting.
Song Jingwu welcomed the guests and conveyed the cordial greetings from President Li Xiaolin to Yamaguchi. He said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Japanese Peace and Friendship Treaty. It is gratifying that the relations between the two countries have continued to improve. Since establishment, the CPAFFC and the China-Japan Friendship Association have always been committed to China-Japan friendship. A series of events will be held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the signing of the treaty this year. He hoped that Yamaguchi and the members of the House of Representatives present at the meeting will continue to play an important role in promoting the sustained, sound and stable development of the bilateral relations.
Yamaguchi thanked Song Jingwu for taking the time to meet him and his delegation and asked Song to convey his sincere greetings to President Li Xiaolin. He said that the long-term efforts and contributions made by the CPAFFC to the improvement and development of Japan-China relations have long been respected. He visited China with the delegation led by Nikai Toshihiro, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party, with the purpose of further improving the development of Japan-China relations. He also expressed willingness to promote the people-to-people friendship and exchanges between the two countries in the future.
Vice President Lin Yi Attends the 2018 China International Taiji·Yoga Conference
From 25th-26th August, the 2018 China International Taiji·Yoga Conference hosted by China India Friendship Association was held in Beijing. Madame Lin Yi, Vice President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Mr. Sharique Badr, Second Secretary of the Indian Embassy to China attended its opening ceremony.
Vice President Lin Yi said on the opening ceremony that the essence of Taiji and Yoga is similar and interconnected, so that they could act as the bridge for Chinese and Indian cultural exchanges. She hoped that though Taiji and Yoga, the two sports that full of Eastern ancient wisdom, we could promote the mutual learning and people-to-people bond between China and India, as well as between China and the world.
On the opening ceremony, the champion of 2018 Yoga Asanas Competition, renowned Taiji masters and traditional Indian culture artists selected by the Indian Embassy offered wonderful performances.

Vice President Lin Yi Meets with Member of the European Parliament, Miroslav Poche
Mme.Lin Yi, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with and held a banquet for the Poches on the evening of August 26th, on Sunday. Mr. Miroslav Poche, Member of the European Parliament and Vice Chairman of the EU-China Friendship Group in the European Parliament. During the meeting, Vice President Lin Yi discussed with Miroslav Poche about the important significance of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between China and European countries under the new situation. Both sides also exchanged their views on important international issues including the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to be held in early next month in Beijing, Sino-African relationship and the recent trade friction between China and the United States. Mr. Gai Lin, Assistant of Chairman Nirj Deva, Mr. Peter Huang, Deputy Director General of EU-China Joint Innovation Center, Mme.Zhang Ruoning, Deputy Director General of Department of European and Asian Affairs of CPAFFC, accompanied with and attended the meeting and banquet.
Vice President Lin Yi Interviewed by China Traffic Radio
To highlight the forthcoming 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, China Traffic Radio is launching a series of special programs. On 24 August, Madame Lin Yi, Vice President of CPAFFC, received an interview by China Traffic Radio and made brief introduction on CPAFFC’s endeavors in promoting local governments, youth and cultural exchanges with Africa.
Madame Lin said that CPAFFC held the Job Fair for African Students in November of 2017 and proposed the establishment of the China-Africa Local Governments union of TVET (Technical & Vocational Education & Training) Cooperation during the Third Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation hosted in Beijing in May 2018. The aim is to improve technical skills for young Africans, promote their employment and provide competent personnel resources to Chinese companies in Africa.
Besides, on the purpose of strengthening the interaction between Chinese and African people, CPAFFC has hosted three dragon boat festive events in Egypt and Uganda which were well-received by local residents and played an active role in promoting cultural exchanges and friendship between China and Africa.

Vice President Wang Qishan said, China and Japan enjoy profound friendship. The healthy and stable bilateral relations are not only apt to the historical trend, but in line with the interests of the two peoples. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China and Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and both sides should , on the basis of the four political documents between China and Japan and in the spirit of reviewing the history and looking into the future, properly handle issues and differences so as to maintain the momentum of improving bilateral relations. Secretary General Li Xikui Meets with Edo-Tokyo Museum Honorary Director TAKEUCHI MAKOTO
Mr. Li Xikui, Secretary General of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr. TAKEUCHI MAKOTO, Honorary Director of the Edo-Tokyo Museum, and his delegation on August 15.
During the meeting, Secretary General Li Xikui said, cultural exchange is one of the important tasks of the CPAFFC. There are several similarities between Chinese and Japanese cultures, which produce a natural affinity. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship. In 2020, the Olympic Games will be held in Tokyo, and in 2022, the Winter Olympic Games will be organized in Beijing. Both sides should take these important opportunities to further develop cooperation, carry forward the culture of the two countries, improve the bilateral relations and enhance the feelings of the two peoples.
TAKEUCHI MAKOTO thanked Secretary General Li Xikui for taking time to meet them. He made an introduction about the exchange activities and programs developed in the Japan-China-ROK capital museums. The Sixth China-Germany U16 Youth Football Friendship Tournament Held Successfully in Qingdao
The Sixth China-Germany U16 Youth Football Friendship Tournament jointly organized by CPAFFC and Friendship Association Mannheim/Rhein-Neckar in Germany was successfully held in Qingdao, Shandong Province from August 2nd to August 13th . CPAFFC Vice-President Song Jingwu attended the event.
Team Waldhof and Team Waldorf from Mannheim competed with No.1 High School Qingdao, Qingdao Experimental High School, Yiwu 11th High School and The Huis' Middle School of Shenyang. Finally Team Waldorf, Team Waldhof and Qingdao Experimental High School won respectively the Top 3 of the Tournament.
On the evening of August 10th, over 150 youth from both countries gathered for the Sino-German Youth Night of Friendship in the Qingdao Sino-German Ecological Park. After 10 days of competition and being together, the young players communicated with each other and established a deep friendship among them using football as a language.

Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met in Beijing with Mr. TERASAKI HIROTSUGU, Vice President of Soka Gakkai and his delegation on August 9.
Vice President Song Jingwu extended welcome to the delegation and conveyed cordial greetings from CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin to Soka Gakkai Honorary President Ikeda Daisaku. Vice President Song Jingwu said that, China and Japan are important neighbors to each other. To develop a healthy and stable Sino-Japanese relations is in line with the fundamental interests of the two countries and two peoples. Under the joint efforts of the governments and all walks of life of the two countries, the bilateral relations have been maintaining a positive and improved momentum since the recent years. In May, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s successful visiting to Japan promoted China-Japan relations back to the normal track. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and also marks the 50th anniversary of offering suggestions by Honorary President Ikeda Daisaku on the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations. CPAFFC hoped the Soka Gakkai delegation led by President Minoru Harada to visit China on the occasion of this important time, and expected to deepen the friendly cooperation of both sides through this visiting so as to make common efforts to improve the bilateral relations and to realize the friendship for generations between the two countries.
