On March 14th, Vice President Xie Yuan met Mr.Simon Pang, Chief Financial Officer of U.S.-China Business Council and Executive Vice President of Royal Business Bank. The two sides exchanged views on how to promote U.S.-China subnational cooperation and discussed relevant arrangements with respect to the forthcoming visit to China by Californian delegation of mayors.

On the morning of March 13th , Feng Zuoku, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Hon. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Saudi Arabia and his delegation. Vice President Feng Zuoku welcomed Tawfiq Al-Rabiah and his group, and conveyed the greeting from President Li Xiaolin to them. He described the people-to-people friendly exchanges with Saudi Arabia developed by the CPAFFC in recent years, and reclaimed that the CPAFFC would intensify the efforts on works of friendship with Saudi Arabia, so as to further promote the friendly cooperative relations between China and Saudi Arabia in various fields including economic and trading exchanges. Hon. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah expressed that it was the first time for him to visit Beijing. Saudi Arabia paid great attention to the friendly cooperative relations with China and the important role of the CPAFFC in  furthering the friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries. Therefore, his first official mission after arriving in Beijing was to visit the leaders of the CPAFFC. He hoped that the CPAFFC would play a positive role in encouraging Chinese enterprises to invest and run business in Saudi Arabia, and export the Saudi Arabian non-oil products to China. Meanwhile, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah also expected to cooperate with correlative departments of China to build a quality management system in order to control and ensure the quality of the products exported to Saudi Arabia from China, so as to create a better image and reputation for the Chinese Production.

On March 12th ,China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD) and Johnson & Johnson (China) Investment Ltd jointly organized the signing ceremony of Donation and Establishment of International Friendship Award – Healthy Society in Beijing. CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin， Vice President Xie Yuan, and Mr. Alex Gorsky, Chairman，Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson were present at the ceremony. President Li Xiaolin, Vice President Xie Yuan and Mr. Alex Gorsky witnessing the Signing Ceremony According to the agreement reached by the both sides, Johnson & Johnson (China) Investment Ltd. will donate RMB 2,640,000 Yuan to CFFPD to establish J&J-CFFPD International Friendship Award – Healthy Society, which will reward the Chinese and foreign individuals and groups who make outstanding contribution to the cause of medical and health in the world. Every year there will be 6 individuals and 1 group receiving the award according to the plan. The first awarding ceremony is expected to be held in this October. On March 12th，Vice President Xie Yuan met Ms. Shiumei Lin, UPS Vice President for Public Affairs of Asia Pacific Region in Beijing. Vice President Xie briefed Ms. Lin on CPAFFC’s forthcoming exchange and cooperation programs with the U.S. in 2014 and expressed the willingness to work together with the American people from all walks of life to further promote China-US friendship. Ms. Lin expressed thanks to Vice President Xie for meeting her and for CPAFFC’s long-term support to UPS. She also introduced the development of UPS in China and said that UPS would continue the partnership with CPAFFC to conduct public welfare projects in China for the promotion of people-to-people exchanges between China and the U.S..

In the morning of March 11th , 2014, Mr. Li Xikui, CPAFFC Secretary General met with Mr. Jean Rosanvallon, CEO of Dassault Falcon Company, Mr. Jean-Michael, Senior VP of International Sales Department, Mr. Olivier DeLapeyriere, Mr. Dror Kohn, Director of DStone Ltd. in Israel, Mr. Yair Bar, VP of DStone Ltd. Secretary-General Li Xikui briefed the history and recent work of the CPAFFC, and emphasized on the general aviation industry project co-operated by Commission for Economic Cooperation of CPAFFC, Sinowing (Beijing) General Aviation Investment Management Center and Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Zone. He expressed that, with the development of economy, China was going to face fast increase of demands on personnels and logistics. The general aviation project not only met the Chinese general development strategy, but also received great support from the central government. The local governments also showed great enthusiasm on such new type of industry. This project was full of potential. It was expected that the both sides could accomplish the project at international and demonstrative standard. Mr. Jean Rosanvallon thanked the CPAFFC’s reception, and introduced the status of Dassault Falcon company. Dassault Falcon included all the falcon projects and business jet projects of Dassault Group. So far, there had been more than 2000 falcons served around more than 80 countries in the world. He said, general aviation industry was at its beginning stage in China, and he was optimistic about the Chinese market and this opportunity for cooperation. The person in charge of Sinowing (Beijing) Genersal Aviation Investment Management Center described the basic status of the systematic projects of general aviation, and discussed with Dassault Falcon on the direction and steps of the cooperation of the both sides. Mr. Jean Rosanvallon expressed his interest on the project. He would make a further report to the board after he returned to France, and wished the cooperation a success.

At the invitation of Association for Friendship between Brazil and China (AFBC) and San Paulo Association for Friendship between Brazil and China, Vice President Xie Yuan led a delegation to visit Brazil from March 6th to 11th, 2014. During his stay in Brazil, Mr. Xie met with Danillo Santos, President of the Association of AFBC, William Woo, President of Sao Paulo Association for Friendship between Brazil and China, Naun Moyses, CEO of OI Telecom Agency, Davi Santos, President of Brazilian Journalists Association and relevant leaders from Brazilian Samba Federation and Globo Television of Brazil. They held in depth communication and reached consensus with respect on hosting events marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, and enhancing friendly non-governmental exchanges between our two peoples.

  On March 10th, Vice President Li Jianping met with Chief Minister Allen Bell and his delegation from Isle of Man. Vice President Li made a brief introduction on CPAFFC its  cooperation with UK and other European countries. He extended his gratitudes to the government of Isle of Man for its support towards the Sino-European Agricultural Seminar hosted by CPAFFC. Mr. Li also expressed wishes to further strengthen the good relationship that already exists between the two sides and to accomplish more fruitful cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture and agriculture through establishing sister-city relations and enhancing cooperation between the local governments.      Chief Minister Bell said, he was very pleased to visit China for the first time at the invitation of CPAFFC. He introduced the unique legal status that Isle of Man possesses and its advantages in the fields of finance and business. Mr. Bell also said, Isle of Man attaches great importance to the relationship with China, wishes to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields and to establish a long-term friendship between the two sides on the basis of strengthening economy and trade cooperation. Mr. Song Jingwu, Director General of European-Asian Department and Ms. Zhang Ruoning, Deputy Director General of European-Asian Department were present at the meeting.  

【Note: The CPAFFC and the China National Committee for the Care of Children (CNCCC) hosted the 1st China-ASEAN Youth Cultural Exchange Festival (CAYCEF) in Beijing from August 1st to 6th 2013, organized by CNCCC Public Service Center. Around 250 young delegates participated in the event. They come from 20 provinces or cities in the Chinese mainland and Taiwan as well as from 10 ASEAN countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Through visits, experience tours, courses and joint performances, young delegates established friendship and deepened understanding with each other. Recently, 10 ASEAN young delegates sent a letter to the CPAFFC, sharing their thoughts of the CAYCEF and expressing gratitude to the hosts and organizer.】 To: The Chinese people’s association for friendship with foreign countries Hi, we are the 10 representatives from each Southeast Asian Country. Our average age is 18 years old and most of us are still studying in high schools. In this hopeful beginning of 2014, we are happy to share an overseas friendship story with you. In the first week of August in 2013, the 10 countries of ASEAN sent approximately 10 youths to go Beijing, China to join the first “China-ASEAN Youth cultural exchange festival”, which was hosted by “China National Committee for the care of Children”, “Chinese People’s association for Friendship with Foreign Countries” and organized by “CNCCC Public Service Center”. We were hand in hand to represent all of our ASEAN friends who were fortunate to be part of the festival. We are still grateful to have experienced this precious, meaningful and historical grand event. In the journey, we experienced and touched the four-thousand-year history, culture and wonders of China. Our ASEAN friends got a deep and good impression of the main coordinator Mr. Wu Jiong, the MC Ms. Xu Jing and each instructor from Beijing Foreign Studies University. Although we did not have the same mother tongue, they treated us like a friend and made us feel that we were not alone in the far place away from home. Actually for us, the most valuable thing was to meet plenty of new friends in life. This kind of new friend is never get old. We were from 10 different countries in ASEAN, speaking different languages, living in a completely different cultural background, with different customs, and educational structures. Hence, the processes of knowing each other, sharing the similarities, celebrating the differences, until accepting each other and becoming friend, are always fresh. Five months have gone, and 2014 a brand new year has started. Recalling the memories, we thought that after the festival, everybody going back to their own country and continuing their regular lifestyles, our connection would slowly disappear. But it is so amazing that we continue our friendship until now by Internet! Perhaps it is because destiny brought some true friends together. However, there is still an uncertain future of us, but we believe it is beautiful still. Moreover, we have a group on Facebook with one hundred members and some of us have established a private team called “The ASEAN Youth Summit” to make sure the friendship is still tight with lots of continuing discussions and conversations. We always work hard to increase our international knowledge in real life, and work towards of our shared dream – Reunion! It is only a pure thought and a dream, which is why we created those things. We are having some thought now, for example: backpacking together to experience the world, and meeting each other on a glorious international stage. We sincerely believe that we will achieve it in someday. Finally, we feel grateful to all of the organizations like those I have mentioned, and of course the United Nations and other non-governmental organizations. All of you let the world share each other and increase the interest between human to have more positive possibilities. On March 4, Mr. Li Jianping, vice president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Mr. OEY Toen Ping, Vice Chairman of Rotterdam Branch of Netherland China Friendship Association (VNC). Mr. Li expressed his deep appreciations for the effort VNC has made for the success of Sino-European Agricultural Seminar in the past few years. Mr. Li also briefed Mr. OEY on the celebration activities marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of CPAFFC. Mr. OEY Toen Ping introduced the election of the new council and president of VNC. The two sides discussed the potential cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health care and environment protection, both showing high expectation on the future cooperation between CPAFFC and VNC.
