On September 8, 2025, President Yang Wanming of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, Canada, and his delegation, at the CPAFFC. The two sides exchanged views on promoting the improvement and development of China-Canada relations, as well as on deepening subnational cooperation and cultural exchanges. Kody Blois, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister of Canada; Jennifer May, Canadian Ambassador to China; and Shen Xin, Vice President of the CPAFFC, were present at the meeting.

President Yang noted that China-Canada relations had long been at the forefront of China's ties with developed Western countries. In recent years, however, the relationship has faced certain difficulties. Since Prime Minister Mark Carney took office, China-Canada relations have shown signs of warming. President Yang stressed that, taking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity, China stands ready to work with Canada, on the basis of equality and mutual respect, to expand exchanges and cooperation across a wide range of fields, properly address each other's concerns through constructive dialogue and consultation, and bring bilateral relations out of their low ebb onto the right track of improvement and development, so as to better benefit both countries and their peoples. The CPAFFC is prepared to work hand in hand with visionary figures from all sectors in Canada to continue building bridges for exchanges and cooperation in such areas as subnational government, economy and trade, culture, and youth friendship, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, while steadily deepening the outcomes of practical cooperation.

Premier Scott Moe expressed his appreciation to the CPAFFC for its strong support of his visit, noting that the purpose of this visit to China is not only to promote trade relations, but also to advance all-round cooperation across multiple areas. He expressed the hope that the visit would serve as a starting point for the two sides to seek common ground and explore constructive approaches to resolving differences.
