On August 25, 2025, the "Korea-China Ties" City Cooperation Exchange Event was held in Shanghai. Yuan Mindao, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC); Chen Jing, President of the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Su Lin, Vice President of the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do Province of the Republic of Korea; Kim Young-jun, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai; Qu Huan, President of the Korea China Association for Cultural Exchange; together with about 180 representatives from subnational governments, councils, think tanks, universities, and enterprises from two countries, attended the event.
In his remarks, Vice President Yuan Mindao emphasized that China and the Republic of Korea are close neighbors that cannot be separated, as well as important cooperation partners. Not long ago, President Xi Jinping and President Lee Jae-myung held a telephone conversation, during which they reached important consensus on elevating the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level, charting the course for the future of bilateral relations. Vice President Yuan stressed that the foundation of China-ROK relations lies among the people, and its vitality stems from subnational level engagement. He expressed the hope that Chungcheongnam-do and Shanghai, along with other Chinese provinces and cities, will leverage their respective resources and industrial strengths, further promote the deep integration of industrial and supply chains, expand practical cooperation across more areas and at deeper levels, and contribute to the sustained advancement of China-ROK relations.
Jointly hosted by the CPAFFC, the Government of Chungcheongnam-do Province, and the Korea China Association for Cultural Exchange, the "Korea-China Ties" City Cooperation Exchange Event featured an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and the signing of memorandums of cooperation.
